Ingredients
- 3 lbs beef short ribs, cut into 2" long pieces
- 1 c ketchup
- 1 tbsp white wine vinegar
- 1 tbsp Worcestershire sauce
- 1 tbsp sugar
- 1 tsp dry mustard
- 2 medium yellow onions, thinly sliced
- 1 dries bay leaf
- Salt
Instructions
- Trim the fat off the short ribs.
- Place ribs with 1/3 c water in a 6 qt saucepan.
- Cover the pot and cook over medium heat on the stovetop for 20 minutes.
- Uncover the pot and turn the heat up to high. Cook another 10 minutes, turning meat occasionally to prevent burning. Cook until the meat is brown on all sides and the liquid evaporates.
- Add 1 c water along with the rest of the ingredients. Cover the pot and simmer until the meat is very tender, about 1 1/2 hours.
- Skim the fat off the top and discard. Add more salt as necessary to taste.
- Serve the meat with the juices over rice, noodles, or potatoes.
