Ingredients

Marinade
  • 1 tsp salt
  • 1/2 tsp powdered ginger
  • 1/2 c sugar
  • 1/2 cup white vinegar
  • 1 tbsp soy sauce
Spare Ribs
  • 2 lbs pork spare ribs, cut in 2-inch pieces
  • 1/2 c water
  • 2 tbsp cornstarch

Instructions

To make the marinade:
  1. Combine salt, ginger, sugar, vinegar, and soy sauce in a small bowl.
To make the spare ribs:
  1. Pour the marinade over the spare ribs in a shallow dish or bowl.
  2. Marinate overnight (or at least 4 hours).
  3. Place rack in the center of the oven. Preheat oven to 350℉.
  4. Drain off the marinade into a small saucepan and bake spare ribs on a rack in an uncovered baking dish for one hour.
  5. Dissolve the cornstarch in a small amount of water.
  6. Add the cornstarch mixture to the marinade in the saucepan. Bring to a boil, stirring occasionally, and let boil for around 5 minutes, or until the mixture is smooth and thickened.
  7. When the spare ribs are done cooking, remove them from the oven and place on a serving dish. Pour the marinade over the top and serve immediately.
